Friday Figure Drawing

Some samples from Friday figure drawing class. I 'm trying to use economy of line and shading. Less Rembrant rendering and more line shapes like Kathe Kollwitz. Practise, practise, practise. See more under "Figures" to the left.

70's Pattern Zone

Trying new stuff. I love patterns, especially retro 70s wallpaper and fabric. It's kinda funny actually because I hated that stuff back in the 70's when a pair of crushed velvet elephent bells would make you the most popular girl in the 7th grade. If you have no idea what I'm talking about you then you missed out on an era of design wackiness that we still have not seen the likes of since. Orange_pattern3

The Politicians

For a long time I have been thinking about creating a series of political portraits. As an artitst it was a challenge to leave out my own political views and objectivley document the person as they appear. Even though I might not agree with Condi politically I think that my likeness of her makes her seem brave, shrewd and quite smart. When creating the image I thought of how many times she has met with powerful men all over the world who dislike both her and her American values and how I bet she would rather be back home playing the piano. Storybook Snow Flakes

Allegorical snowflakes? Each one tells a different story. This is the story of the Frog Prince. These were fun to do and a great client to work with. Let's do more!
